Be’eri Art Gallery

The new Be’eri Art Gallery will rise on the edge of Kibbutz Be’eri, following the destruction of the original building. It is the outcome of a called competition, initiated by the Kibbutz in collaboration with the Tel Aviv Foundation and the German Embassy, and made possible by a donation from the German government.

Set in the Western Negev, the 960 sqm project integrates existing elements on site — a barn, a silo, and mature trees — into a sequence of earthen walls and open pavilions. Instead of a single object, the gallery unfolds as a porous, low-slung structure that connects indoor and outdoor spaces.

Built from local rammed earth and shaded by floating roofs, the design draws from kibbutz modernism and desert vernaculars. It reimagines the gallery not as a monument, but as a framework for resilience — open, adaptable, and grounded in place.

In collaboration with Atelier SOTO, the landscape design reinforces this continuity, weaving together gardens, gathering spaces, and ecological systems. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with opening planned for the end of 2026.
